Sustainability

We only have one planet.

As a jeweller and coach (if you’re interested in mindset, motivation and values check out my coaching site) I’m very in tune with my values. They play a part in every aspect of my life. They are Empathy, Nature, Support, Joy and Excitement.

For a long time I didn’t take the time to recognise my values and even when I first identified them I saw them as one dimensional. Now I can see the interconnectedness and how each feeds another or how something can be placed into a value which perhaps doesn’t entirely sense.

Why am I banging on about values? Because nature, empathy and support all lead me to sustainability.

Sustainability is the support of ecological, human, and economic, health and vitality. It recognises that resources are finite. I understand that the materials I need to make my collections and one of pieces are finite. I know that mass production practices release chemicals into the environment that can harm humans and the wider ecological world and I can see that by buying from small businesses we can support a diverse, sustainable economy.

My jewellery may not be the cheapest but it is rich in support for the planet and it’s people.

I only buy eco-gold and eco-silver. I recycle all ‘scrap metal’ in my own studio, using it in items like the Raindrop Collection. All materials and tools are bought from UK companies, I only use ecologically sound chemicals, and always ensure chemicals and waste are disposed of correctly.

I may only be small but I am doing my bit to support the UN’s SDG’s.
